Fifteen minutes before a 1:1 you would otherwise improvise.
Help me prepare for my one-to-one. From my notes below: 1. Sort what I could raise into: **needs a decision from them**, **needs their awareness**, **needs their help**, **can wait**. Cut the last group. 2. Order the rest so the most important item goes first, not last. These meetings get cut short. 3. For each item, give me one opening sentence that states the point before the context. 4. Identify anything I have been avoiding raising, and draft the first line for it. 5. Suggest two questions to ask them, about their view rather than my status. 6. Note what I should have prepared or read beforehand. If my list is too long for the time available, tell me what to drop. Who this is with, how long, and my notes:
Before and during. Agendas, pre-reads, prep for a 1:1 or an exec slot, and plans for retros and workshops.
