Support
Ask me anything.
One person builds Promptory, and the same person reads the inbox. You will get a real answer, not a ticket number.
hello@promptory.appThe questions that come up.
Getting started
- How do I install it?
- Promptory is in beta and not in the browser stores yet, so it installs by hand. The install page walks through it for Chrome and Firefox.
- Do I need an account?
- No. Promptory works fully offline with no account, and your prompts are stored on your device. An account only adds sync between devices.
- How do I save a prompt?
- Select any text on a page, right-click, and choose Save to Promptory. A tick flashes on the toolbar icon to confirm.
- How do I get a prompt back out?
- Right-click inside any text box and pick one from the Insert menu. Your folders appear as the menu structure.
Your data
- Where are my prompts stored?
- In your browser's local storage, on your device. If you sign in, a copy also syncs to our servers so other devices can reach it.
- Can I export my prompts?
- Yes, export to a JSON file from Settings, so you always hold your own copy.
- How do I delete my data?
- Uninstalling clears everything stored locally. To erase a synced account and its contents, email hello@promptory.app.
The library
- What is the prompt library?
- 684 ready-made prompts across 19 categories, free to copy. Browse them on the site, or add any of them to your own library from inside the extension.
- Can I suggest a prompt?
- Yes. Send one from the suggest page and a person reads every submission before anything is published.
- Does adding a library prompt lock it?
- No. Adding makes a copy that is entirely yours, editable and deletable like anything else you saved.
Platforms
- Which browsers are supported?
- Chrome and Firefox today. Safari follows after them.
- Does it work outside the browser?
- Not yet. Mac and Windows apps are planned, which will let you save and insert prompts in any application.
- Does my theme follow me between devices?
- Yes, if you are signed in. You can also pin a different theme to one device from Settings.
