We would rather not know.

Promptory is a prompt manager. This policy explains what it stores, where that data goes, and how you remove it.

The short version

• Without an account, nothing leaves your device.
• With an account, your prompts and folders sync to our server so you can reach them from another browser or computer.
• We do not sell your data, show you ads, or use your prompts to train models.

What is stored on your device

Promptory keeps your prompts and folders in your browser's local storage (IndexedDB). This includes the prompt text, its title, tags, folder, and the page address it was captured from.

This stays on your device and works with no internet connection. If you never sign in, this is the only copy that exists.

What is stored on our servers

Only if you create an account by signing in.

We use these sign-in providers: Google, Facebook, and Apple. We receive your basic profile information from whichever you choose. We never receive your password.

Sign-in tokens are stored only as a cryptographic hash, so a copy of our database does not yield working credentials.

The public library

Browsing the public prompt library requires no account and no sign-in.

If you tell us a library prompt was useful, or add one to your own library, we record that as an anonymous count against the prompt. We do not store who voted, so these counts cannot be linked back to you.

If you submit a prompt for the library, we store what you send, plus a name and email address only if you choose to provide them. The email is used to contact you about that submission and nothing else.

What we do not collect

• No analytics or tracking. Promptory does not include analytics, trackers, or advertising code.
• No browsing history. The extension only reads the text you explicitly select and save, or the field you explicitly insert into. It does not read pages in the background.
• No selling or sharing. We do not sell your data or pass it to advertisers.
• No model training. Your prompts are never used to train AI models.

Browser permissions

The extension asks for the narrowest permissions it can:

• contextMenus — the right-click Save and Insert entries
• storage / unlimitedStorage — keep prompts on your device and stop the browser evicting them
• activeTab + scripting — insert a prompt into the field you right-clicked, on that tab only, at that moment
• identity — complete sign-in
• alarms — periodic background sync

It does not request permission to read every page you visit.

Keeping and deleting data

Prompts are kept until you delete them. A deleted prompt is first marked deleted so the deletion reaches your other devices, then removed.

To delete everything: sign out and uninstall the extension to clear local data. To erase your server-side account and its contents, email us at the address below and we will remove it.

Children

Promptory is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, we will update the date at the top and, for account holders, notify you by email.
