A balcony, a windowsill, or a yard, and a wish to eat something you grew.
Tell me what food is genuinely worth growing in the space below. 1. **Worth it.** Crops with a good return for the space, ranked by yield per container and by how much better they are than the shop version. Give the variety names that suit containers, not the field ones. 2. **Not worth it.** What people grow in small spaces that disappoints, and why. Be blunt. Sweetcorn in a pot is not a good idea. 3. **For each recommended crop:** container size and depth, compost, how many plants per container, sowing time, time to harvest, and watering demand in hot weather. 4. **The succession.** What follows what through the season so a container is not empty for three months. 5. **The realistic yield.** Roughly how much I will actually eat from this, so my expectations match. Use my light honestly. If the spot is too shady for fruiting crops, say so and point me at leaves and herbs instead of pretending tomatoes will work. Space, dimensions and aspect: Where I am and my growing season: What I actually like eating: Watering access and time available:
Growing food. Crops worth the space, sowing calendars worked back from frost, and pairings with real evidence.
