Rescue a dish that has gone wrong

The sauce split, the soup is salty, the sponge sank, and dinner is in twenty minutes.

Something has gone wrong and I need to fix it now.

Answer in this order and keep it short:
1. **What has probably happened**, in one or two sentences, based on what I describe.
2. **Can it be saved?** Yes, partly, or no. Say it straight away. If the answer is no, skip to step 4.
3. **The fix**, as numbered steps I can do immediately with ordinary kitchen ingredients. Give one method, the one most likely to work, not a menu of options.
4. **Plan B**, if the fix fails: what this can be turned into instead, or what to serve instead using what I have.
5. **Next time**, one line only, on what caused it.

Do not lecture me about technique before giving me the fix. The fix comes first.
