Writing card descriptions for a deck, a book, or a newsletter and everything sounds the same.
Write about the card below in a way that avoids everything that gets written about it. First, list the ten phrases most commonly used for this card. Those are now banned, along with any close paraphrase. Then write three passages of 60 to 90 words each, each taking a different route: 1. Start from a single physical detail in the image and stay with it. 2. Describe a specific ordinary situation the card fits, with no abstract nouns at all. 3. Approach it through what the card is not, or through the card it is usually mistaken for. Rules: no second person imperative, no "this card invites you to", no promises. Concrete nouns over abstractions throughout. Then tell me which of the three is the strongest and which one is trying too hard. Card: Audience and tone:
