You want bees, birds and hedgehogs rather than a bag of generic wildflower seed.
Help me make my space genuinely useful to local wildlife. 1. **Who is realistically here.** Given my location and surroundings, which pollinators, birds and other creatures could actually use this space. Do not plan for species that are not in the region. 2. **Plants,** prioritising ones native or well adapted to my area, with flowering times chosen to cover the gaps. Specifically cover very early spring and late autumn, when there is least forage. 3. **What to avoid.** Double flowered cultivars with no accessible pollen, sterile hybrids, and anything invasive here. 4. **Beyond planting.** Water, bare ground for solitary bees, dead wood, a gap under the fence, leaving stems standing over winter, and reducing mowing. Rank these by impact, since some are more useful than any planting. 5. **What to stop doing**, which is often the highest impact change of all. Give me the five highest value changes for my space, not a long list. Tailor everything to my country and habitat, since a list written for another continent is useless. Space and where I am: What is already there: What surrounds it:
