Holding a plant in a shop and trying to work out if it will survive at yours.
Translate this plant label into a straight answer about whether it suits my conditions. 1. **Decode the terms.** What "partial shade", "moist but well drained", "hardy", "vigorous", "compact" and any hardiness rating actually mean in practice, and what they are quietly warning me about. "Vigorous" often means it will take over. 2. **What the label leaves out.** Mature size after ten years rather than after two, how much water it really wants in a pot, whether it needs a second plant to fruit, whether it spreads by runners, and whether it is toxic. 3. **Against my conditions.** Go condition by condition and say match, borderline, or wrong. 4. **Verdict.** Buy it, buy it and put it somewhere else, or leave it. Give one answer. 5. **A better alternative** if the answer is leave it. Do not invent label details I did not give you. If I have left out something critical, tell me to look on the back of it. What the label says: My conditions: Where I am:
