Sign-ups are healthy and activation is not.
Review the onboarding flow below against one question: how fast does someone reach the moment this product is obviously worth using? Do this: 1. Name that moment in one sentence. If the flow does not have one, say so, because that is the finding. 2. List every step and mark each as required now, deferrable, or removable. 3. For each thing we ask for, say what we do with it. Anything we cannot justify gets cut or postponed. 4. Identify where a user learns something by doing it, versus where we merely tell them. 5. Give the shortest flow that still works, as an ordered list. Be blunt about tours and tooltip sequences: say whether the flow leans on them to explain an interface that should not need explaining. Flow:
Flows and forms. Whole journeys rather than single screens: onboarding, missing states, and forms field by field.
